Tango

It takes two to tango,

Sometimes three,

Worry and Envy,

One playing an invisible music,

The other leading you on the dance floor,

You Swing and sway, twist and grind,

In ignorant bliss, under the spell of the music, Falling, and falling,

Unmindful of how fast time goes by,

“We’ll get back to you in two days” they say,

A smile filled your face as you pictured your winnings.

“A dance of Chance”, the game had been titled,

Control, Mr worry had promised

Perfection, Mrs envy had offered,

They’ve been at this game for centuries now,

A new sap falling prey to their schemes every now and then,

They watch you walk away, a gleeful smile on their faces,

A drum full of your peace was lying on the floor,

Harvested in the shadows while you danced,

A new collection ready to be added to the others.

“We will see you next time mister”,

In a different city, a new game at hand.

Very wonderful writing. May we refuse any alluring dance invitation from worry and envy.
